The 2018 Summer Skating Academy will take place from July 2 – August 17.

Registration will open on Tuesday April 24!

6:00pm – JUNIOR, 6:30pm – INTERMEDIATE,  7:00pm – SENIOR, Accelerated Canskate, and Dance

It is with heavy hearts we share the sad news of the passing of Christine Moores, founding member of the Conception Bay North Skating Club, former Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Chairperson and past Skate Canada Board Member. Chris’s passionate and visionary leadership inspired the skating community in many ways, especially in club and program development, sound governance and to simply embrace the joy of skating. Avalon Region Off Season Schools (Spring and Fall)

The Avalon Region will be offering Spring Programs from May 1-June 11 and Fall Programs from Sept 1-Sept 28 at the Mount Pearl Glacier.

The Silver Wings Skating Club  hosted the Eastern Region InterClub, March 25, 2018 in Bonavista.

The Prince of Wales Skating Club hosted the Avalon Region InterClub, March 24, 2018 in St. John’s.

Gold and Silver for NL Teams at 2018 Skate Canada Atlantic Synchronized Championships!

Congratulations to the Newfoundland and Labrador Synchronized Skating teams who competed at 2018 Skate Canada Atlantic Synchronized Skating Championships held this weekend in Liverpool, NS. All teams  had an outstanding competition with the following results:
 
Conception Bay South Genesis Intermediate – Gold
Conception Bay South Genesis Pre Novice – Gold
Mount Pearl Open Starlites – Gold
Prince of Wales Synergy Novice – Gold
Prince of Wales Synergy Intermediate– Silver
 
CBS Genesis Intermediate along with Mount Pearl Open Starlites and Prince of Wales Synergy Novice will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2018 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships being held February 23-25 at the Tribute Communities Centre, Oshawa, Ontario. The Silver Blades Skating Club hosted the Elizabeth Swan Memorial Synchronized Skating Competition on February 3, 2018 in Corner Brook, NL.

2018 Skate Canada NL Divisional Championships

The following Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Divisional Championships were held in January 2018.

  • Western Divisionals – Hosted by Port Aux Basques FSC, January 13-14, 2018
  • Eastern Divisionals – Hosted by Conception Bay North SC, January 20-21, 2018
  • Labrador Divisionals – Hosted by Wabush FSC, January 20-21, 2018

Canada 150 Skate Day a Huge Success!

Over 200 skaters of all ages and abilities participated in Canada 150 Skate Day held Dec 10 at Mile One Centre.  Participants were hosted by Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince of Wales Skating Club for an afternoon of skating lessons from the professional coaching staff of Prince of Wales , performances by skaters Boroka Albert, Elin Maskova and Synergy Intermediate Synchronized Skating Team.

The SCNL Community Skate Bank – a Canada 150 Legacy Project  of Heritage Canada was very well-utilized by many first-time skaters and added to today by Sport Newfoundland and Labrador who donated several additional pairs of skates to the skate bank! All participants enjoyed a great afternoon skating, Canada 150 & Rogers swag, snacks, Timbits and Tim Horton’s Coffee & Hot Chocolate !

Thank you to the Government of Canada, Heritage Canada, Skate Canada, Rogers Communications, Tim Hortons, Sport NL, Mile One Centre (St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Inc) Prince of Wales Skating Club, Coaches &  Volunteers, Wendy Kane, Gayle McClelland, Wendy Mercer and Christine Morgan for making Canada 150 Skate Day a huge success!!!!
