Provincial teams – selection

Revised 2009-2010 Provincial Teams Selection Criteria

*These revisions are for this season only*

Senior A Team

  • Pre-Novice and Higher Events – Skaters qualifying for Eastern Challenge/National Championships.
  • Skaters who were on the Senior A Team in the year prior who have moved to a higher category and competed at Sectionals in the subsequent season and do not qualify for Eastern Challenge (IE: Pre Novice Champion 2008 Sectionals moves to Novice for 2009 sectionals and finishes 5th or lower)
  • One year term effective November 15 of current season

Senior B Team

  • Pre Novice and Higher events at Sectionals – placements 5-8
  • Juvenile events at Sectionals – all competitors who registered for the 2010 Sectionals Championships.
  • Pre Juvenile events at Provincials – placements 1-3 *only those skaters who registered for the 2010 BMO Sectional Championships will be eligible for team selection.
  • Pre Juvenile and Juvenile skaters who were on the Senior B team in the year prior who have moved to a higher Sectional category and have at least a year of eligibility remaining in their previous category (i.e. Pre Juvenile Champion at 2007 Sectionals moves to Juvenile with a year of Pre Juvenile eligibility remaining and finishes 9 at the 2008 Sectionals, must compete at the subsequent Sectionals to retain team position)
  • Juvenile skaters at the current Sectionals who age eligible for Juvenile in the subsequent season and who finished in 6-10th place, must compete at the subsequent Sectionals
  • One year term effective November 15 of current season.

Junior

  • Pre Juvenile events at Provincials – placements 4-10   *only those skaters who registered for the 2010 BMO Sectional Championships will be eligible for team selection.
  • Preliminary Women “9 and under” at the Provincial Championships – placements 1-8
  • Preliminary Men “10 and under” at Provincial Championships – placements 1-8
  • Preliminary Dance Teams at Provincials and Jr. Provincials – all teams
  • Preliminary Women (9 and under) at Jr. Provincials – top 3 in each flight.
  • Preliminary Men (9 and under, 10 years) at Jr. Provincials – top 3 in each flight
  • Pre-Preliminary I & II Women (7 years &under,8 years) at Jr. Provincials – top 3 in each flight.
  • Pre-Preliminary I & II Men (9 years,8 years and under) at Jr. Provincials – top 3 in each flight
  • One Year Term effective November 15 (Pre Juvenile and Juvenile) and March 31 (Pre-Preliminary/Preliminary) of current season

Note that if a partnership breaks up, or a skater retires from competition, then their place on the team is not retained
