Coaching bursaries
Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador willl pay up to $500 for coaches taking level 3 and higher courses outside the province per coach per year. For coaches doing courses offered inside the province, the Section will pay the course registration fee to a maximum of $250. We will also pay the out of pocket gold status registration fees for the National Coaching Conference and Skate Canada BOB Canskate training program. The overall budget allocation for coaches bursaries will be $2,000/year. Receipts and funding from other sources will have to be provided and the bursary will not exceed the actual costs incurred.

Skate Canada is establishing a National Coach Apprenticeship Program for competitive coaches to learn from the best coaches in Canada and the World! The purpose of the program will enable coaches in the competitive stream, who have not yet attended the Canadian Championships with their skaters, an opportunity to come to their first future Nationals prepared, as the coach, and for their athletes.

Coaches wanted
The Silver Blades Skating Club requires a Head Club Coach for the 2010-2011 skating season. The Silver Blades Figure Skating Club has over 180 members including CanSkate, STARSkate, Competitive Skate, AdultSkate, CanPowerSkate and two Synchronized Skating Teams. The neighboring Deer Lake figure skating club also requires a club coach. Both clubs will work together to offer 25-30 hours a week to a head coach. Deer Lake is a 30-minute drive from Corner Brook. There is also a vacancy for a freelance coach. Please see our website for more information. CBNSC, which is based out of the Bay Arena, Bay Roberts (50 minute drive from St. John’s) and SW Moores, Harbour Grace (65 minute drive from St. John’s), is looking for a coach for the remainder of this season and hopefully many seasons to come! A coach is needed for all star sessions (Thursday 6:00 – 9:00, Saturday 4:00 – 8:20, Sunday 3:20 – 4:50). As well, additional time will be available on Sundays to offer private lessons during the 3 synchro sessions. During competition season there will also be CanSkate coaching time available when our other coaches are away for competitions or for other reasons.
