The skating event took place in the first half of the games, and is now complete. The 2010 SCNL Junior Provincials were held February 27 & 28, 2010 in Clarenville, hosted by the Flying Blades FSC. Agnes Thistle Shield : Prince of Wales SC (Previous winners) The Thistle Shield is presented to the club with the most points at the Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Junior Provincial Championships in honour of the [...] The Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Synchronized Skating Championships hosted by Mount Pearl Skating Club. Teams was a great success, with 24 teams from all over the province competing. The Cornel Trophy (best team) was awarded to the TP Explosions (Trinity Placentia FSC), and the Butt Trophy (most spirited) was awarded to Les Etoiles from [...] The Avalon Region is offering an Easter Seminar at the Smallwood Arena in Mt. Pearl (April 6-8). The head coach for this seminar will be Michelle Leigh, who coaches at the Mariposa Training Centre. This year Michelle will be accompanied by Paige Aistrop and Joey Russell. All places are filled; any further applications will be [...] At the 2010 Lamontagne Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincials the Chapman Shield (most points) was awarded to Mount Pearl, and the Alan Davison award (most improved) jointly to Seaport Skaters and Terra Nova Tornadoes. The Balish Cup (most artistic) went to Victoria Hanlon (Silver Jets) and the Withers Award (outstanding performance) to Emily Benson [...] The Avalon Region will be offering Spring and Fall off-season schools Applications and more information – Canskate Application In accordance with the By-Laws of Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador, the following appointments to the Board of Directors of Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador will be made on or by February 18, 2010; Athletes Representative; Chairperson, Judges/Evaluators; Coordinator, Skater Development; Coordinator, Synchronized Skating. The election of Officers to Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador’s Board [...] All clubs are encouraged to take time to recognize the hard work and dedication of the many club volunteers, officials, skaters and coaches who have made a positive impact during the 2009-2010 season by nominating them for for the 2010 Skate Canada Achievement Awards (deadline February 5). The following awards will be made (details follow): The Western Regional Skating competition took place this weekend (January 22 – 23, 2010), hosted by Silver Blades Skating Club at the Pepsi Centre, Corner Brook. Silver Blades won the Club Award, the Joan Targett Award went to Marta Croll-Baehre and the Andy Joy Cup to Jasmine Penney Awards, Photos & Results now on-line Eastern Regionals took place in Clarenville this weekend (January 23-24), hosted by Flying Blades. Brianna Seaward was named most artistic skater, with the Hart award going to Katie Cranford. Most points went to CBN, with Cutting Edge the most improved club. Photos and Results & Award Winners now on-line. Central Regionals were held in Botwood, hosted by Seaport Skaters FSC. Cecily Parsons of Terra Nova Tornadoes won the most artistic award, with Sparkling Blades capturing the most points trophy, and Island Blades the most improved club award.
