Another successful summer seminar with Manon Perron is now complete. Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador will host the 2010 Rebecca Pack Memorial Friendship Skate, September 25th, 2010 at the Glacier, Mount Pearl. All eligible skaters are invited to enter this competition. Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador 2010 Summer Skate, was held August 21, 2010 at Twin Rinks, St John’s. Results online Joey Russell has been assigned by Skate Canada to compete at the Nebelhorn Trophy September 23-26, 2010 in Oberstdorf, Germany. Summer Seminar will take place at Twin Rinks, St John’s August 22-24. Manon Perron will be leading the seminar along with off ice specialist, Marilyn Luis and guest judge Sylvain Guibord. Schedule Grace Woodland finished 5th in her flight in PreNovice at Thornhill with a combined total of 57.45. Joey Russell finished in 2nd place in Senior men scoring 156.74. NTV recently featured the Newfoundland and Labrador Skating Academy and guest coach former Canadian champion and olympic medalist Elizabeth Manley on the evening news Ashley Bishop competed at Championnats québécois d’été BMO Groupe financier (Quebec Summer Sectionals). Ashley placed 6th in her flight of 24 in PreNovice short with a score of 21.87, and 6th out of 29 in the long with a score of 34.03. Congratulations are extended to Tanya Young on her promotion to Level I Data Specialist. Grace Woodland finished 4th in her flight in Prenovice short and 5th in the long at Minto summer skate in Ottawa The following documents are now available on the Skate Canada Members Only website under Technical and Programs.

The 2010-11 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador technical package, incorporating changes and amendments passed at the Annual General Meeting, is now available. this document governs the content of the main Skate Newfoundland and Labrador competitions for the following year, and skaters, clubs, coaches and officials should ensure they are familiar with its contents. Programs are available for skaters on our Provincial Teams and all other skaters who have passed a Prelminary freeskate test. We are pleased to have Manon Perron (coach of Olympic medalist, Joannie Rochette) as well as other guest trainers and officials. Application Deadline is Friday July 23. Summer Seminar Application Summer Seminar PEP Congratulations are extended to Ruth Noel, on her promotion to Level I Data Specialist. Skate Canada announced a number of award winners at its Annual Convention and General Meeting (ACGM) in Toronto, Ontario. The recipients were presented with their award at the annual awards gala. The Skate Canada National Award Program honours dedicated members of the skating community who have donated their time to help contribute to improving the quality of skating in Canada. Karen Nevin of Silver Jets was one of thirteen volunteers presented with the 2010 Skate Canada Volunteer Award of Excellence. In addition Matthew Chislett was presented with the National BMO Canskater of the Year award. Video of the event is now available on Skatebuzz! |
